Damp, warm trade-winds from the east create rainforest/semi-desert partitions on the more mountainous islands. The second half of the year tends to enjoy more rainfall, though the Caribbean is fortunate to enjoy year round sunshine.

Hurricanes have been known to frequent the region in the latter months of the year. The storms generally strike north of Grenada and to the west of Barbados.
